“I am honored and pleased to have served the City of Stockton and its residents for the pasteighteen plus years,” Asuncion said in a statement. “I want to thank themayor, city council, residents, and businesses of Stockton for allowing me the distinctionand honor to have served the people of this wonderful city.”

Asuncion became Stockton’s deputy city attorney in 2007. She was appointed as Stockton’s interim city attorney in March of 2022 and then became the official city attorney in September 2022. It is unclear why Asuncion stepped down.
