A woman hit by a train in downtown Modesto during the Monday evening commute has died, according to police. Officers responded at about 5:20 p.m. to reports of a train striking a pedestrian near 9th and L streets, where they found the woman badly injured and rushed her to a hospital. She later died from her injuries. Her name has not been released, and detectives are still working to determine how the collision happened and which railroad was involved.
