Woman killed after being struck by Union Pacific train in downtown Modesto

A 48-year-old Modesto woman was killed last week after being struck by a Union Pacific Railroad train in downtown Modesto, authorities said.

Modesto police officers responded around 5:20 p.m. on Jan. 19 to reports of a train hitting a pedestrian near the intersection of 9th and L streets, according to the Modesto Police Department.

The woman was found injured at the scene and was transported to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries, police said…
