Two Arrested for Identity Theft at area Car Dealership

“On February 3, Folsom Police officers responded to a local car dealership following a report of two individuals attempting to purchase a vehicle using the stolen identity of an uninvolved victim. Thanks to the salesperson’s quick recognition of the fraudulent identification, the Folsom Police Department was immediately notified and officers responded promptly.

Upon arrival, officers located one suspect seated in a silver Lexus backed into a parking space directly in front of the dealership, while the second suspect was inside attempting to complete the fraudulent transaction. During this time, the victim of the identity theft also contacted the dealership after receiving an alert that their personal information was being used unlawfully.

During the investigation, officers located and seized nine suspected stolen California driver’s licenses, eight stolen and altered Social Security cards, eight stolen bank cards, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and five electronic devices commonly used to facilitate identity theft and fraud-related crimes…
