North Stockton Block Rocked As Driver Dies After Slamming Into Backyard Shed

Thursday night in north Stockton, a driver died after a vehicle smashed into a backyard shed, turning a residential block into an active investigation scene. Emergency crews freed the trapped occupant and rushed them to a hospital, where the person later died, officials said. Neighbors found part of the block taped off as investigators worked the scene, and the crash has left residents asking questions about what happened that evening.

According to FOX40, the California Highway Patrol said the collision happened at about 6:56 p.m. near the intersection of Michigan and North Ryde avenues. CHP investigators reported the occupant was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by fire crews before being taken to a hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries. The agency said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Investigation and recent pattern

The California Highway Patrol continues to examine the scene and has not released the driver’s name or other identifying details. The wreck is the latest deadly single-vehicle collision in the area this month; a separate late-night crash that sent a car into Empire Cut killed a driver earlier in February, according to reports.
