MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The search for a missing woman might soon come to an end.
The Merced County Sheriff’s Office confirmed they recovered a body in a canal in Gustine. They are now working to see if it could be missing North Valley woman Lupita Ontiveros.
Family wants answers after woman disappears during Merced County crash
The Merced County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a body in a canal around 10:15 Sunday morning. The discovery prompted law enforcement to reach out to Lupita Ontiveros’ family.
“We were hoping that it was her so this nightmare could finally end,” Lupita’s sister Judith Zuniga Ontiveros said. “It was really devastating to me because I would have wanted to find her alive, not how she ended up. But God took her for a reason and I’m going to respect that. I just, I never lost hope that we were going to find her.”…
