Coaches play a major role in shaping athletes abilities and success, yet the treatment between boys and girls teams are not always equal. Disregarding the popularity of the teams, the treatment they get from the school and from the coaches themselves are not the same.
At Pitman, there are many different sports that have boys and girls teams. Although they play the same sport at the same level like varsity, jv, or frosh, the boys teams usually get more attention and recognition than the girls teams, even though they might be better than the boys at some sports.
An example of this would be during varsity football and basketball games, the boys would get the cheerleaders, color guard, and the band to perform during halftime and occasionally during the game as well, but the flag football team and the girls basketball team would get nothing during their games, not even for varsity…
