Patterson man faces up to 17 years for arson at abandoned car wash, DA says

PATTERSON, Calif. — A Patterson man has been convicted of arson for starting a fire at an abandoned car wash.

According to the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office, the arson investigation began on March 11, 2025, when firefighters responded to the car wash that was fully engulfed in flames.

An investigation from the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office identified Flavio Alvarez, 26, as a suspect. Deputies contacted him shortly after the incident, and he was found with two matchbooks with several matches missing, officials said…
