Penguins Walk It Off Against Wildcats In Turlock

TURLOCK, Calif. – Dominican softball staged a dramatic comeback to defeat Central Washington, 5-4, in non-conference action Saturday at Warrior Softball Field, closing out the Stan State Invitational in thrilling fashion.

Aneesa Brewer delivered the clutch moment in the bottom of the sixth inning, blasting a three-run home run over the left-field fence to tie the game at 4-4. One inning later, Taylor Rodriguez laid down a bunt to the pitcher, who attempted to make the force out at third. The throw sailed wide of the bag, allowing the winning run to score and sealing the 5-4 walk-off victory for the Penguins.

Central Washington struck first with an RBI double in the opening inning to take a 1-0 lead. What followed was a dominant pitching duel between Reese Anderson and Alexis Verduzco, who combined to allow just two hits, one apiece, through the first four innings…
