A San Joaquin County jury convicted a Stockton man of multiple felony and misdemeanor charges for dumping hundreds of gallons of used oil into the Smith Canal in September 2024, prosecutors said.
San Joaquin County District Attorney Ron Freitas announced Thursday that David Sump, 52, was found guilty following a trial stemming from what authorities described as a deliberate spill along the levee on Shimizu Drive.
