Three San Joaquin County court cases are set to move into the preliminary hearing stages starting early next month at the Stockton courthouse.
Delta College hit-and-run
In 2024, Jamaraqui Latice Burks was arrested and arraigned in connection with the hit-and-run death of 23-year-old Jazmine Floris.
Floris, also known as Jay, was walking their service dog on Oct. 24, 2024, near San Joaquin Delta College’s marquee sign. Floris was struck by a vehicle and within seconds the driver, identified by investigators as Burks, had fled the scene, police said.
Floris was critically injured, and their dog—Mustang—had run off to Target in a nearby shopping center. The service dog assisted Jay with periodic seizures they suffered from as a result of a work injury…
