Patterson school officials jailed for $1.5M embezzlement scheme

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – A former assistant superintendent and a former IT director from the Patterson Joint Unified School District have been sentenced to prison for their involvement in a $1.5 million embezzlement scheme.

Jeffrey Menge, 45, from Copperopolis, received a 30-month sentence, while Eric Drabert, 46, from Modesto, was sentenced to 18 months.

Court documents revealed that between 2018 and 2022, Menge, serving as the Assistant Superintendent and Chief Business Officer, hired Drabert as the IT Director in 2020. Together, they orchestrated a scheme to embezzle money using CenCal Tech LLC, a Nevada company Menge controlled under the fake alias “Frank Barnes”…
