Caltrans has started construction on an intersection improvement project at SR-165 and Geer Avenue in the community of Hilmar in Merced County. Work began on March 9, 2026, and includes widening highway shoulders, adding new traffic signals, pedestrian crosswalks, ADA features, sidewalks, drainage inlets, curbs, and gutters.
Daytime traffic controls will be in place on Geer Avenue from 7 AM to 4 PM, and nighttime controls on SR-165 from 8 PM to 5 AM. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and use the Caltrans QuickMap app for real-time highway updates…
