(FOX40.COM) — Violent and property crime declined overall in early 2026 compared with last year, according to newly released data from the Stockton Police Department, though some categories showed mixed trends.
Stockton police said the department’s report comparing January and February 2026 with year-to-date figures shows total reported incidents dropped 5.5% compared with the same period in 2025, falling from 1,782 to 1,684.
Violent crime overall decreased 12.5% year to date, with 450 incidents reported so far in 2026 compared with 514 during the same period last year, Stockton police said. Homicides fell 40%, dropping from five in 2025 to three this year. Aggravated assaults also declined 16.8%…
