Stockton crime drops overall in early 2026, despite rise in rape and theft

(FOX40.COM) — Violent and property crime declined overall in early 2026 compared with last year, according to newly released data from the Stockton Police Department, though some categories showed mixed trends.

Stockton police said the department’s report comparing January and February 2026 with year-to-date figures shows total reported incidents dropped 5.5% compared with the same period in 2025, falling from 1,782 to 1,684.
