What happens to César Chávez-named sites in Stockton, Modesto?

STOCKTON, Calif. — Questions about the legacy of César Chávez are surfacing across the Central Valley, including in Stockton and Modesto, after allegations of sexual abuse were detailed in a New York Times investigation.

The allegations have led some cities to begin removing Chávez’s name from buildings and schools. In Stockton, however, officials say they are taking a more measured approach.
