5 face federal charges after 3,000-pound meth bust

(FOX40.COM) — Five face federal charges after a massive drug bust in three California cities led law enforcement to seize more than 3,000 pounds of methamphetamine.

Federal prosecutors announced Thursday that five undocumented immigrants were charged with conspiracy to manufacture and distribute meth, along with other drug and firearm offenses.

Last October, law enforcement began investigating the alleged drug trafficking organization, identifying 33-year-old Luis Carrillo and four other associates. The investigation was initiated by the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office in response to an illegal dumping complaint in a remote area…
