Elk Grove man sentenced to nine years for drug trafficking conspiracy

SACRAMENTO, California — Delanious Ward, a 57-year-old from Elk Grove, has been sentenced to nine years in prison for conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute heroin and fentanyl.

Ward was among seven defendants arrested in 2024 as part of a multi-agency operation targeting narcotics traffickers, according to U.S. Attorney Eric Grant. Court documents reveal that Ward managed a drug network extending to New Orleans, Louisiana. During a 60-day wiretap operation, Ward was intercepted trafficking fentanyl, cocaine, and heroin, and was found in possession of cocaine and fentanyl upon his arrest. He pleaded guilty on December 19, 2024.
