Woman charged in Manteca baby’s death released from jail

MANTECA, Calif. — The woman charged in connection with the death of a 4-year-old boy at a Manteca home-based daycare has been released from jail on her own recognizance, as the medical examiner’s office now says the infant’s death was from natural causes.

In November, prosecutors charged Roxanne Helus with second-degree murder and four counts of child abuse or endangerment after Manteca police said Christian Olvera stopped breathing while at Helus’ daycare on Oct. 22.
