More Alabama families may now be eligible for assistance through the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, commonly known as WIC, following an increase in income eligibility guidelines.
State health officials are encouraging pregnant women, new mothers, breastfeeding women, and parents or guardians of children younger than 5 to contact their local county health department or WIC agency to see if they qualify.
WIC provides food benefits for eligible family members, including monthly cash-value benefits for fruits and vegetables.
