Alabama Communities Set to Receive More Than $17 Million in FEMA Mitigation Funding

Alabama communities are slated to receive more than $17 million in federal funding for disaster mitigation and infrastructure improvement projects as part of a larger FEMA initiative aimed at reducing the impact of future natural disasters across the Southeast.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that more than $50 million has been made available for 25 hazard mitigation projects across seven Southeastern states through its Pre-Disaster Mitigation Grant Program. The funding was authorized by Congress through the Fiscal Year 2026 Homeland Security and Further Additional Continuing Appropriations Act.
