Strong storms could bring damaging winds to parts of Alabama on Wednesday

ALABAMA — Parts of Alabama could see isolated severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts on Wednesday, according to the Storm Prediction Center.

Forecasters say a cluster of thunderstorms moving across the region could strengthen as it tracks through southern Mississippi and into southern Alabama later Wednesday morning and afternoon.

While the overall severe weather threat is expected to remain isolated, the strongest storms may produce powerful, water-loaded wind gusts. Forecast models indicate the atmosphere will have limited wind shear, but strong thunderstorm updrafts could still generate locally damaging winds.
