MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Two restaurants recently forced by the Montgomery County Health Department to close have been cleared to reopen.
Wintzell’s Oyster House in downtown Montgomery was ordered to close after an inspection on June 15 found “a rodent infestation and a lack of refrigeration.” Other priority items found in MCHD’s initial inspection were moldy soda guns and employee drinks were not properly stored away from food preparation.
Marisqueria Ramirez, a Mexican restaurant located on Mount Meigs Road, received a health score of 57 out of 100. Moldy produce in the reach-in cooler, flies and roaches in the establishment, and dirty dishes being stored with clean dishes were among the issues cited by the health department.
