Several North Alabama agencies awarded grants to provide residents with energy cost relief

ALABAMA (WHNT) – Gov. Kay Ivey has awarded more than $6 million to the Weatherization Assistance Program to help low-income Alabama residents reduce their energy bills.

“High energy costs can be a significant burden on people who are already struggling to make ends meet,” Gov. Ivey said.

The 13 grants administered to community action agencies and local partners across Alabama will be used to improve energy efficiency and the safety of homes. The initiative focuses on the households of people with disabilities, the elderly and families with children…
