On July 1, SB197, a new food truck inspection law, went into effect in the State of Alabama in potentially positive news for business owners in the state.
The new law will require mobile food vendors — or food trucks — to obtain a valid health inspection certificate and fire inspection certificate, beginning in January, that would be recognized statewide, eliminating the need for separate inspections in each local jurisdiction where the vendor operates.
Previously, if a food truck operates in Pike County one day and Coffee County the next, the vendor would be required to have health inspection certification and fire certification in both counties. Under this new legislation, mobile food vendors will be allowed to operate throughout the entire state once they have secured the required inspections in one county.
