The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has prepared its final environmental impact statement for the Mississippi Crossing Project and South System Expansion 4, natural gas pipeline projects which would originate in Mississippi and continue across Alabama into Georgia.
Louie Miller, director of the Mississippi chapter of the Sierra Club, said the Magnolia State would bear the brunt of the work while receiving minimal benefits.
“Eighty to 90% of this gas will go to Georgia to build out data centers,” Miller explained. “Mississippi would see somewhere around six to 11 jobs, which is hardly any kind of economic boom for the state of Mississippi.”…
