More than 300 cities and counties are also expected to waive their local sales taxes, providing additional savings for families. Shoppers are encouraged to verify whether their local community is participating before making purchases.

According to the Alabama Retail Association, this year’s tax holiday features expanded exemption limits following legislation approved during the 2025 legislative session. The association advocated for the changes, which increased the maximum purchase prices for qualifying items and tied future adjustments to the Consumer Price Index.
