MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – A Georgia man was sentenced Thursday for his part in a scheme to cash stolen U.S. Treasury checks in the Montgomery area using fake IDs.
A federal judge sentenced Devin Adkins, 33, of Marietta, to five years in federal prison for conspiring to commit wire fraud without parole. After his term, he will serve three years of supervised release. Adkins previously pleaded guilty.
Court documents show that Adkins and Sylena Christina Salikram, 40, of Brooklyn, New York, got hold of stolen U.S. Treasury checks and used stolen and fake identification to cash them at post offices in Montgomery.
