Calera Police Department arrests suspect in animal cruelty case

CALERA – Calera police have arrested a Lowndes County man in connection with the death of a small dog that suffered blunt force trauma injuries earlier this week.

Chandler Jeremiah James has been arrested on charges of cruelty to animals with a $5,000 bond and was released on Sept. 3 after posting bail.

According to a post by the Calera Police Department, officers received information about an injured dog and began an investigation. The dog was taken to a Birmingham veterinary hospital, where efforts were made to save the dog’s life, but the injuries were too severe…
