MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Across Alabama, an average of at least two people die by suicide every day, leaving families to navigate an isolating and often unspoken grief.
September marks National Suicide Prevention Month, a statewide and national effort to reduce stigma, encourage open conversations, and connect people in crisis with lifesaving resources. In 2024, nearly 840 Alabamians died by suicide. For two Montgomery women, the devastating statistics reflect deeply personal losses that drove them to turn heartbreak into advocacy.
