MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Yesterday marked the official start of fall, but it still felt more like the middle of summer in every aspect with heat, humidity, and scattered showers and thunderstorms popping up over a good chunk of the region through the afternoon. It will remain warmer than normal for the first full afternoon of fall, but some very noticeable improvements are on the way for the next several days!
Mostly sunny skies will quickly warm temperatures back up into the lower 90s; a few showers and thunderstorms are again expected to pop up around portions of the region late this afternoon and through the evening, but the coverage of that rain should be a bit smaller than what we saw yesterday.
Some rain could still be falling into the early portions of the overnight hours as well, then we will see partly cloudy skies early Thursday morning with lows in the upper 60s to lower 70s…
