MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WRBL) —On Wednesday, Gov. Kay Ivey and college students from Auburn University and the University of Alabama kicked off the annual Beat Bama/Beat Auburn Food Drive at the Governor’s mansion in Montgomery.
Ivey celebrated the kickoff of the food drive by making the first official donation to each of the schools.
Students at Auburn and Alabama will compete to see who can collect the most canned goods and non-perishable food items. The drive occurs in the seven weeks leading up to the Iron Bowl and joins the two rivals for a common goal: to fight hunger and poverty.
