Alabama man charged with threats tied to Nolan Wells’ case after grand jury ruling

An Alabama man is the latest person arrested on a federal charge for making threats in connection with the death of Nolan Xavier Wells.

Claude Henry Bates, Jr., 41, of Montgomery, is charged in a federal criminal complaint with sending threats across state lines to kill or injure a person and to destroy a building. He was taken into custody in Alabama on Oct. 2.

The felony offense carries a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines…
