A global aerospace company is funding the expansion of the aerospace manufacturing industry in Alabama’s I-85 corridor with a $1 million investment into workforce training in multiple communities throughout the state.
The investment from GE Aerospace — a global aerospace company that is involved in the aircraft manufacturing industry — is part of a bigger program called Lifting Futures, which aims to train 10,000 workers across multiple communities for the aerospace industry by 2030.
The $1 million is an initial investment that will go toward increasing career awareness, prepare entry-level workers, improve program completion and strengthen regional coordination in Montgomery, Auburn and Wadley, which is about 80 miles northeast of Montgomery. A spokesperson for the GE Aerospace Foundation — an independent charitable organization funded by GE Aerospace which is at the helm of Lifting Futures — said that first-year grants alone “will reach more than 400 people.”…
