Missing teen found safe in Montgomery

The Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Office has announced that a teenager who was missing from the Brantley area Tuesday morning had been located. Another person is being held for questioning in relation to the teen’s disappearance.

Jasmine McMeans, 16, was located in Montgomery late Tuesday morning after she left the area of Carter Road in Brantley and did not return. Rasheed Blake, 22, was identified as a person of interest in the case and has been detained by the Montgomery Police Department for questioning.

According to Sheriff’s Lieutenant Chris Stewart, Blake is suspected of having picked up McMeans in Brantley. He was located and detained at a Montgomery hotel.

“[Crenshaw County] Deputy Justin Wood helped us navigate the situation, working with Montgomery PD, and was able to locate the gentleman we believe picked her up down in Brantley,” Steward said. “He’s got to be questioned by Montgomery detectives for unrelated allegations that he might have been involved in an incident [in Montgomery] a couple of weeks ago.”
