Earlier this week, the Tennessee Vols landed a commitment from 2025 five-star quarterback George MacIntyre.
MacIntyre, who is from Brentwood, TN, picked Tennessee over Alabama.
Unsurprisingly, some Alabama fans immediately started suggesting that MacIntyre committed to Tennessee only because of Nick Saban’s recent retirement.
That’s despite the fact that recruiting analysts for the last couple of months consistently suggested that Tennessee was in a “good spot” for MacIntyre ahead of his commitment decision.
And MacIntyre himself said this week that he decided “months” ago that Tennessee is where he wanted to commit, which was obviously way before anyone knew that Saban was going to retire.
On3’s Josh Newberg asked MacIntyre on Monday when he knew that he was going to choose Tennessee.
“I’ve known for the last couple of months,” said MacIntyre. “I’ve been trying to commit for a little bit now, we had the snow week, but finally getting it over with. Knowing that I’m officially a Volunteer just feels good.”
