Two people died during a house fire early Saturday in Montgomery.
At 1:06 a.m., multiple units from Montgomery Fire Rescue responded to the 1200 block ofAvondale Road for a structure fire with heavy smoke and flames. During a search of the home, firefighters found two unidentified victims, a man and a woman, inside the home.
After firefighters removed them from the home and used life support on both patients, the man was transported to the emergency room at Jackson Hospital, and the woman was transported to the emergency room at Baptist South. Both patients were pronounced deceased at the hospitals.
After firefighters extinguished the blaze, no one else was found during a second search of the home. No firefighters were injured.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
