Alabama Task Force deploys team to Florida in response to Hurricane Milton

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. ( WHNT ) — Alabama Task Force 3 is deploying a team to Florida in response to Hurricane Milton.

According to officials, the tasks force will be bringing all technical rescue and swift-water capable components to areas that need them the most.

Milton rapidly strengthened into a Category 5 hurricane Monday in the Gulf of Mexico on a pathway towards Florida. Milton is forecast to weaken to a Category 3 storm as it hits the west coast of Florida on Wednesday evening.

After landfall, the storm will barrel across the state, through major cities like Tampa and Orlando overnight into Thursday.

Some agencies represented in the task force include the State Urban Rescue Alliance, National US&R Response System, Alabama Emergency Management Agency, Guntersville Fire and Rescue, Marshall County Emergency Management Agency, Madison Fire and Rescue, Decatur Fire and Rescue, and the Fort Payne Fire Department.
