ABBEVILLE, Ala (WDHN) — Wiregrass entrepreneur and TV personality Jimmy Rane has joined some of Alabama’s most accomplished citizens in the Alabama Academy of Honor.
Rane, also known as “Yella Fella,” was inducted into the academy Monday morning in the state capital building.
“While also pursuing a career in law, Jimmy Rane took the reigns of a small family business in Abbeville, transforming it into a market-dominating multi-national building products company with two billion, with a “b,” in annual sales,” said Governor Kay Ivey while introducing the inductees.
“I am proud to call him my friend,” said Gov. Ivey.
Rane is the founder and CEO of Great Southern Wood Preserving in Abbeville.
The Wiregrass native was the final inductee to take the podium Monday morning, accepting his award from well-known Birmingham attorney J. Mason Davis.
“It’s very, very humbling to be here,” said Rane. “One of the greatest honors of my life has been to try and serve my state in every way that I can.”
