BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A man who had previously been charged with attempted murder in Alabama is now wanted by police in Tennessee after allegedly using the identity of a man who was found dead in the woods.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee, a call was made at approximately 11:34 p.m. from a man reporting his name as “Brandon Andrade,” who claimed he had fallen off a cliff while being chased by a bear. He additionally claimed he was injured and in the water.
The call was traced in the area of the Charles Hall bridge on the Cherahola Skyway in Tellico Plains, where officers found a dead man with identification listed as “Brandon Andrade” to him. After being taken to a hospital for an investigation, it was determined that the victim was not “Brandon Andrade” and that the identification found on him had been stolen. It was later discovered that the original caller who identified himself as “Brandon Andrade” is actually Nicholas Wayne Hamlett, who had used the alias of “Brandon Andrade” other times as well.
