Alabama man dies in crash after being pursued by deputy

ELMORE COUNTY, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A Wetumpka man who was being pursued by an Autauga County Sheriff’s Office deputy was killed in a crash Friday evening, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports.

Mark Patterson, 45, was fatally injured around 6:16 p.m. when the Ford F-150 he was operating departed a road and traveled on private property near the I-65 Service Road and Real Life Church in Millbrook before overturning in a ravine.

Patterson, who was reportedly not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene. A deputy was pursuing Patterson before the crash happened.

Troopers with the ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are investigating the crash.
