Thanksgiving is still a few weeks away, but it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Montgomery — especially for the dancers of Alabama Dance Theatre.
Starting Thursday, Nov. 7, they’ll have public performances of Six Favorite Dances of Christmas, a collage of dances set to beautiful Christmas carols and songs.
Additionally, ADT will perform the ballet of the Charles Dickens tale, “A Christmas Carol,” choreographed by ADT’s Sara Sanford.
“We’ve not done it since 2011. It’s been a while, so we’re excited,” ADT artistic director Kate Seale Smith said of “A Christmas Carol.”
The Thursday performance is 7 p.m., at Troy University’s Davis Theatre, 251 Montgomery St., Montgomery. After that, the public can catch matinee shows at the Davis on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m.
“We have two school shows on Friday,” Smith said.
“It’s a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season and get into a festive mood,” Sanford said.
For people who have never been to a ballet before or are unsure if they’d enjoy it, Smith said this is the perfect introduction.
