Alabama man arrested in Holmes Co. missing packages case

HOLMES COUNTY, Fla. ( WDHN ) — An Alabama man and FedEx contract worker is behind bars in Holmes County, Florida after police say he chose to discard undelivered packages at several locations rather than return them to the warehouse.

Deputies arrested Latavion Lewis, of Alabama and charged him with Organized Scheme to Defraud, Grand Theft, and Illegal Dumping.

The case began when deputies say the Bonifay post office reported multiple incidents where FedEx packages were dumped in the woods or beside the road .

FedEx was called to assist in identifying the driver assigned to deliver the missing packages. and they identified Lewis, a contracted worker from Alabama, as the individual responsible for delivery.

During the interview, police say Lewis admitted to deputies that, due to the late hour, he chose to discard the undelivered packages at several locations rather than return them to the FedEx warehouse.

So far, officers say 44 packages have been recovered and taken to the Bonifay post office to be taken to their correct location.
