WEATHER AWARE: Winter storm to bring rain, snow and ice; some travel problems likely

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Good Thursday Morning! Another cold morning with air temperature readings in the 20s and wind chill values in the teens and 20s. For the dangerously cold wind chill readings that has prompted a Cold Weather Advisory for the region until 9 am this morning.

Cold day ahead with temperatures in the 30s through most of the morning with midday temperatures around 40. Highs are slightly warmer today with highs in the upper 40s.

Winter storm is set to take aim at the southeast bringing along snow, ice and dangerous travel conditions. As of right now across the News 3 viewing area we are still projected to see a mix of snow, sleet and rain with the onset of precipitation Friday morning as the system moves through.

The rain/snow mix line gradually moves northward through the morning and is likely still impacting our northern tier counties of Chambers, Troup and Meriwether through midday Friday. By the afternoon, we transition all over to a cold, miserable rain as temperatures warm into the upper 30s and low 40s.
