CODE RED ALERT for Jefferson and Shelby Counties! Smoke from prescribed burns has significantly increased the poor air quality. If you have heart or lung issues please limit your time outside on Tuesday. The rest of us should conserve energy by carpooling and refueling after 6 PM.
Tuesday will be gorgeous, with plenty of sunshine as high pressure sits southwest of Alabama. We will be warmer with highs in the middle 70s.
On Wednesday, the area of high pressure will move east across the Northern Gulf Coast. This will continue to bring Central Alabama more sunshine and warm high temperatures in the middle 70s.
The weather changes on Wednesday night and Thursday as an upper-level wave moves across the Southeast U.S. This will set off scattered showers and some thunderstorms. A few storms could become strong to possibly severe Thursday, due to a limited threat for damaging wind and large hail.
The rain will clear out by Thursday evening. High temperatures will be in the lower 70s.
Friday will be a dry day as an upper-level ridge of high pressure moves across Alabama. It will be partly cloudy and warmer with highs in the upper 70s. Scattered storms are expected to develop Friday night, and could be strong to severe with lows in the 60s…
