People are in Alabama and across the globe and some you need to watch out for. The Bible offers wisdom on how to navigate relationships and warns believers about certain types of people who can lead them astray, cause harm, or hinder spiritual growth. While we are called to love and extend grace to everyone, Scripture also encourages discernment and wisdom in choosing the company we keep. Here are five types of people the Bible warns us to be cautious around:
1. The Foolish Person
“Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.” – Proverbs 13:20
The Bible often contrasts wisdom with foolishness. A foolish person is not just someone who lacks intelligence but someone who despises wisdom, ignores correction, and repeatedly makes reckless decisions. Being closely associated with such individuals can lead to negative influences and bad decisions. Instead, believers are encouraged to seek the company of those who value wisdom and godliness.
2. The Gossip and Slanderer
“A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret.” – Proverbs 11:13
Gossipers and slanderers cause division, spread lies, and damage reputations. The Bible warns that associating with such individuals can lead to conflict and harm. Instead of engaging in gossip, believers are encouraged to speak words that uplift and encourage others, guarding their conversations with wisdom and integrity.
3. The Angry and Hot-Tempered Person
“Do not make friends with a hot-tempered person, do not associate with one easily angered, or you may learn their ways and get yourself ensnared.” – Proverbs 22:24-25…
