Settlement hearing set for Alabama judge who blamed spending $140,000 in court funds on ‘sloppy’ bookkeeping

Former Lauderdale County judge Gil Self, who was charged last year with using his office for personal gain, has been scheduled to discuss a settlement with the court in June, according to court documents.

Between July 1, 2019, and July 31, 2023, Self improperly spent more than $140,000 from funds used to support court operations, according to the results of a state audit.
