Parents could soon be notified if their child is ticketed for traffic violations

The Alabama House of Representatives passed a bill requiring law enforcement agencies to make a reasonable effort to notify a minor’s available emergency contact if they are cited for a traffic infraction.

House Bill 285 applies to people under 19 years old. Law enforcement can call, text, or send a letter to the minor’s emergency contact.
