Montgomery quilters impact dementia patients via “fidget quilts”

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – The “Block a Month” quilting club meets every third Friday of the month at Montgomery’s Juliette Hampton Morgan Memorial Library.

There, you’ll find quilts traditional and modern, college, and presidential themed, and even so-called “ugly” quilts. However, it’s the quilts with zippers, belt loops, and other trinkets that make a difference.

They’re called “fidget quilts,” and they’re not made for keeping warm. Instead, they’re designed to provide much needed stimulation to dementia and Alzheimer’s patients…
