BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – A system responsible for the severe weather to our west is headed toward Alabama this weekend.
Here’s what you need to know:
Saturday: Severe weather won’t be a concern during the day, so if you have big plans, you’re in the clear. Expect partly cloudy skies with another hot afternoon. Winds will be gusty out of the south, ranging from 10 to 20 mph, with higher gusts at times. Isolated pop-up showers could develop to the west in the afternoon, but widespread rain is not expected.
Saturday Night into Sunday Morning: The storm risk will increase late tomorrow night, particularly after midnight and into the early morning hours on Sunday. West Alabama will see storms first, likely between 12 a.m. and 2 a.m., with the I-65 corridor getting impacted between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m., and eastern areas from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m. While the severe risk will decrease as the storms move across the area, we’ll need to monitor any redeveloping storms to the east and southeast later in the afternoon, as temperatures rebound. The risk will lessen by midday in the west, but storms may linger into the late afternoon or early evening in the east.
