Weather Aware Today for strong to severe storms and flooding rain

***TORNADO WATCH is in effect until 6 PM for much of South and Southeast Alabama***

Today : Strong to severe thunderstorms will continue into the afternoon as a cold front slowly moves across Alabama.

There is a Level 2/5 Slight Risk for severe storms. The threats will be damaging winds, hail, a few tornadoes, and heavy rain.

The storms will continue this afternoon, but the biggest threat will be heavy rain that can lead to flash flooding. Rain totals will be around 2-4″ with some spots over 5″ of rain. A Flood Watch is in effect until 7 PM Monday.

Tonight : The storms will end this evening as the cold front moves across Alabama. We will have lingering clouds and cooler temperatures. Lows will be in the middle to upper 40s.

Monday will be a MUCH cooler day with lingering clouds. High temperatures will struggle to get to 60°. Monday night will become mostly clear and cold with lows ranging from the middle 30s to lower 40s. Some frost is possible, so protect your plants!

A dry cold front will move across the state on Tuesday. We will have plenty of sunshine with unseasonably cool high temperatures in the lower 60s. Tuesday night will be clear and cold with frost. Lows will be in the lower to upper 30s. Protect your plants again!

High pressure will build across the Southeast U.S. on Wednesday. It will be sunny and warmer with highs in the upper 60s.

A cold front will move across Alabama on Thursday into Friday morning. Spotty showers will return later in the day and continue overnight. Highs will be in the 70s. Friday will start with a few showers in the morning, but it will dry out in the afternoon. We stay mild with highs in the 70s.

Weekend Outlook : High pressure will build across the Southeast U.S. all weekend leading to lovely weather. Saturday and Sunday will have plenty of sunshine. High temperatures will be in the 70s each day.
